If you want your child to find their best fit for university, you’ve come to the right place. My name is Kara Madden, and I’ve been helping students succeed in going abroad for university for over 25 years.

I accompany your child through the full process with a compassionate, optimistic, creative, and goal-oriented approach. I excel at helping your child choose the right universities, prepare for their chosen path, and highlight their strengths in their application.

My philosophy on university consulting places student well-being at the center of the process and is informed by the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s “Character Assessment in College Admissions” and “Turning the Tide” initiatives.

I have a profound understanding of the U.S., UK, and Spanish university systems’ inner workings and a vast network of contacts. I teach a Master’s class in International Student Recruitment and Admissions and stay current on all matters related to Global Higher Education. That means that if you work with me, you’ll know you’re giving your child access to the most current, relevant information and expert advice- as seen from inside the international admissions office.

During my time heading up EducationUSA in Spain and supporting Fulbright grantees in finding their best-fit graduate school programs, the number of Spanish students enrolled in U.S. universities doubled. I was one of just 20 advisers worldwide selected to join the first EducationUSA Senior Adviser Leadership Institute. I was also the first consultant in Spain to become a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association, where I currently serve as the Vice-Chair of the Global Committee. I have served on the Advocacy and Outreach Committee at International ACAC and am in the process of becoming a UCAS Centre.

The highlight of my day is when a student or parent calls to tell me that they “got in!” I’d love to help your child reach his or her full potential.
